Location

The cemetery is located in the northern part of the city, in the Katarzynka district, at the exit road to Gdańsk - from the north and east limited by wasteland, from the south by the Stalowa street, and from the west by Grudziądzka street. History

The construction of a large communal cemetery for the inhabitants of Toruń was planned by the city authorities in the 1930s. At that time, the architect of the city, Ignacy Tłoczek, proposed setting up a necropolis in the eastern part of the city, in today's Rubinkowo district, in the vicinity of Fort II of the former Toruń Fortress. However, these plans have never been implemented. At the turn of the 1960s and 1970s, preparatory work for the construction of the Central Municipal Cemetery in today's location began. The first burials in this cemetery took place in 1976. On October 5, 2014, the sacrifice of the mass grave - the place of remembrance of the Lost Child - took place. [source: Wikipedia, 1627679]

Characteristic

In the cemetery there is an administrative building, a funeral parlor and a crematorium. In addition to traditional graves, there is a columbar in the cemetery, in which there are urns with ashes of the deceased.
