Description of the cemetery
It is located in a forest on a hill, by the road from Tuchów to Meszna Opacka. It has a rectangular shape and is fenced with a wooden fence mounted on concrete pillars. It was designed by the German architect Heinrich Scholz as an independent cemetery. At the side opposite the gate, there is a wooden cross with the crucified Jesus Christ. The arms of the cross are crowned with a toothed visor. This type of sculpture on war cemeteries in Austria is rare. Concrete stelae, typical of Heinrich Scholz's designs, were mounted on concrete slabs surrounded by concrete slabs. They have tin plates and are topped with cast-iron crosses of two types: * Maltese crosses with a laurel wreath, * two-armed Lorraine crosses with a laurel wreath, Inside there is a grave with three different types of concrete plinths, on which larger crosses were mounted; two of them are stylized Latin crosses, the third is a simple two-arm cross (Lotaryński) [ . The fate of the cemetery
Austrians performed the cemeteries very solidly, but over time they were naturally destroyed by weather and vegetation factors. Cemetery No. 158 has undergone a major renovation, its appearance is slightly different from the original one. Originally it also had a wooden fence, but of a different type, and the entrance gate consisted of two stone posts with arched ceilings. The cemetery is carefully cared for and in 2016 is in very good condition. It was planted with perennials and ornamental shrubs and currently has the best kept flora among all the cemeteries in the Tarnów region. [source: Wikipedia, 2445086]
