War Cemetery No. 180 - Tarnowiec - an Austrian war cemetery from the period of World War I, built by the War Cemetery Department of the C. and K. Military Command Office in KrakĂłw in its district of VI TarnĂłw. It is located in Tarnowiec, south of TarnĂłw, on the road from TarnĂłw to TuchĂłw. The necropolis was created around a shrine from the 19th century. It is surrounded by a stone wall, at its northern part there is a wooden cross with a roof, which is a central monument. In two mass graves and 35 individual ones, 5 Austro-Hungarian and 34 Russian soldiers were buried here. On the chapel there is a plaque with a Russian-language inscription:
In the translation into Polish: We give the most beautiful souls to our homeland. Soldiers ! You have fallen in the heroic death of the faithful to the grave. The cemetery was designed by Heinrich Scholz. [source: Wikipedia, 2407623]
