War Cemetery No. 215 - Wierzchosławice - an Austrian war cemetery from the First World War, built by the War Cemetery Department of the Commander-in-Chief and Commander in Cracow in its district VIII Brzesko. It is located in Wierzchosławice in the Tarnów poviat of the Małopolska province. It is a plot in the parish cemetery, at the northern entrance, on the left side of the alley. The cemetery was created on the plan of the letter C. On the necropolis there is a concrete monument in the form of a projectile on a small pedestal of stone blocks with four stone plaques adorned with laurel wreaths. The boards do not have an inscription. The cemetery is also distinguished by three high tombstones standing in a row on the burial site of officers of the German army. On each of them there is a large, cast-iron cross of the German type, with inscriptions carved in stone beneath them. The cemetery on two sides has a fence made of metal pipes supported on concrete pillars. In 62 single and four mass graves, 10 Austro-Hungarian soldiers, 72 German soldiers and 50 Russian soldiers were buried. The names of 61 of them are known. They fell on December 22-29, 1914 and January 18-22, 1915. Robert Motka designed the necropolis. [source: Wikipedia, 3224587]
