War Cemetery No. 317 - Bogucice - a historic cemetery of soldiers who died in World War I, located in the village of Bogucice, in the Bochnia commune, Bochnia poviat, Lesser Poland Voivodeship. One of over 400 Western-Galician war cemeteries built by the Cemetery Graves Division of the C. and K. Military Commanders in Krakow. Out of this number, there are 46 cemeteries in the Bochnia district. The cemetery is located about 200 m from the road leading from Bochnia to Uście Salt. A total of 52 soldiers killed on November 30, 1914 are buried there. They are buried in 7 collective graves and one single. Among them are: * 11 soldiers of the Austrian army, among others from the 55th Infantry Regiment, 95th Infantry Regiment of the 16th National Infantry Regiment, 32th Infantry Regiment. Five soldiers are known by name. * 41 soldiers of the Russian army. Only 2 soldiers were identified. The cemetery was designed by Franz Stark. It is preserved in very good condition. It has the shape of a rectangle with a total area of 114 m. The fence is made of concrete pillars connected by two crossbars of metal pipes. The entrance between two concrete pillars is protected by a massive wrought-iron chain. The main object in the cemetery is a concrete monument in the shape of a cross. On the monument there is also a cast-iron cross characteristic for a large part of the cemeteries from the IX district of Bochnia. Original and forged single and two-armed crosses have been preserved on the graves. [source: Wikipedia, 1946319]
