Old Jewish cemetery in Bochnia - Jewish cemetery Jewish community in Bochnia in the 16th century. It is not known exactly when it was made. Certainly existed in 1530, but Jews in the city settled already from 1445. He was in a district inhabited by the Orthodox, whose borders ran along the streets: Kowalska, Szewska, Solna Góra and Trudna, but there is no further information about its exact location. In 1599, one of the local miners desecrated the host, which was to be admitted by persuading one of the local Jews. In view of the fact that the murderer had fled, the entire local Jewish community was punished - King Zygmunt III Waza ordered his exile from the city. Appeals addressed to the king's lengthy case until February 1606, when the Jews eventually left the city, moving to Nowe Wiśnicz. They gave their synagogue and cemetery to the local mayor Stanisław Morski. However, this did not protect the synagogue and the cemetery from destruction by the Bochnia burghers. In July 1606 there was no trace of the cemetery. Also, there are no material traces left at the moment. [source: Wikipedia, 2455703]
