History
The cemetery was founded in the first half of Nineteenth century for the needs of the Uniate parish operating at the church of Saint. Paraskiewy in Cicibór Duży J. Maraśkiewicz, Historic Cemeteries and Tombs in Poland. Bialskopodlaskie Province, Center for the Protection of the Historic Landscape, Warsaw 1995,, p. 24. . In 1875, after the liquidation of the Uniate diocese of Chełm, this parish was renamed to the Orthodox Church, against which the local population protested unsuccessfully. The vast majority of Cicibor residents refused to attend the Orthodox Church and receive the sacraments from the clergy. Also the funerals in the cemetery were secretly held without the priest's participation. According to local tradition, a few hundred resistant units were buried in the necropolis. 57 people were buried in the mass grave. In addition, there are several tombstones in the form of wooden crosses, two tombstones and a slab, which may be the burial place of the parish priest of the Ciciborska parish, Jan Starkiewicz, who refused to convert to Orthodoxy and died in the prison in Siedlce. All buried in the cemetery is commemorated by a monument with an inscription. Let us commemorate the memory of several hundred Uniates from the Cicibór parish secretly hidden in the cemetery, without sacraments, in the years of persecution 1875 - 1905. Let them rest in peace. The cemetery is located south of the village buildings, near a dirt road . Its original layout was obliterated, and the fence was erected in 1983. Linden, maple and acacia grow in the necropolis . It covers an area of 0.16 ha. [source: Wikipedia, 3504081]
