Description of the cemetery
It is located on the edge of the forest near the provincial road No. 977 next to the bus stop . The cemetery was designed by the artistic director of the IV district, Jan Szczepkowski. It is built on a rectangular plan. From the front and back it is surrounded by stone pillars connected by a pair of metal pipes and a stone foundation, and on the sides by a stone wall. The entrance is a two-wing metal wicket . Opposite the entrance, in the rear part of the fence is a monumental wall with a Latin cross towering over it. In the hollow of the wall there is a plaque with the following inscription in German : KOMMT NICHT MIT KRÄNZEN, KOMMT MIT OFFNEN SINNEN, UM AUFZUNEHMEN UND IN TREUEN HERZEN HINWEGZUTRAGEN DIESER STÄTTE MAHNUNG: SEID EINIG, SELBSTLOS, MUTIG UND GETREU! This can be translated as follows: : DO NOT COME WITHTO THE ROLLERS, COME WITH THE OPEN MINDS TO ASK AND IN CLEAN HEARTS SAVE THE CRASHING OF THIS PLACE: YOU WILL BE COMFORTABLE, SACRIFICE, BOLD AND BELIEVE! The tombs are arranged parallel to the entrance in parallel. The tombstones are in the form of small concrete stel with a cast cross or large concrete stel with an extended, oblique and broken middle wall with a towering cross . [source: Wikipedia, 2352698]
The fate of the cemetery
After World War II, the importance of the cemetery in the awareness of the society and the then authorities decreased, because new, more recent cemeteries and dramatic stories of the new war came. The cemetery was naturally destroyed by weather and vegetation factors . The fence and monument wall remained in good condition. Many elements of cemetery No. 121 were irretrievably destroyed. The burial fields have become blurred, the crosses and stelae have been destroyed. Name plates disappeared, or the inscriptions on them were blurred. However, the documentation of the cemetery has been preserved . On its basis, in 2016, the cemetery was refurbished by the efforts of the Małopolska voivod and the defense minister of Hungary Based on a information board mounted on the cemetery wall .
