Description of the cemetery
The cemetery is located on a hill, directly on the road leading through the town of Meszna Opacka. The green bicycle trail leads along this road. The cemetery was designed by Heinrich Scholz on a rectangular plan. The fence of the cemetery is made up of a renovated wooden sectional fence. Enters the cemetery by two triangular topped gates. The central element is a wooden cross with a stylized, geometric glory. Next to it were mounted three smaller, cast-iron, openwork crosses, typical of Austrian cemeteries. Two of them are two-armed Lorraine crosses, one is a Latin cross. Tombstones of soldiers are placed in rows, both parallel and perpendicular. These tombstones are in the form of concrete steles with a tin sign and a cast-iron Maltese cross with a laurel wreath. The remaining tombstones are original tombstones made by Austrians during the construction of the cemetery. These are the same but not renewed steles. They have two types of crosses: two-armed Lorraine and one-armed Maltese crosses, moreover they have rectangular concrete borders of tombstones (the lack of legionaries on their graves). The fate of the cemetery
Originally, the cemetery fence was made of a wooden sectional fence. It entered the cemetery through two triangular topped gates. However, the fence decayed over time. Later, only one entrance through the gate made of metal rods led to the cemetery. The date 1914 was placed on the gate. The fence was replaced by a hedge. The original wooden cross with a stylized geometrical glory, like the fence, decayed over time. It was replaced by a smaller cross without a glory. In the years 2016-17, the cemetery was renovated, the fence was restored to its original appearance. A new wooden cross was set up along the original pattern with a stylized, glory, and tombstones were also renovated. On May 14, 2017, the solemn dedication of the renovated cemetery took place.
