Description of the cemetery
The cemetery has the form of a long row of graves. It is a very elongated rectangle with two sides adjacent to the municipal cemetery, and two to cultivated fields. The central decorative element of the cemetery consists of three obelisks set in a row. The central obelisk is a brick pedestal with a wooden cross on it, next to it there are two stone obelisks without crosses. On the central obelisk with the cross there is an inscription plate with the inscription in German and the Austrian cross, and in front of the obelisk is the tomb of Colonel von Rabel from the 30th Infantry Regiment. Inscription on the inscription board: 1914-1915 GETREU IN NOT SELIG IM TOD Obelisks were erected on the graves of officers. The remaining tombstones are concrete foundations placed in a row. On the brickworks from the south, a stylized, low, concrete cross was placed on each tombstone, and on it a tin plate with names of soldiers buried in this place was mounted. There are two types of crosses; on the graves of Austrian soldiers it is a one-armed cross, on the graves of two-armed Russian soldiers . [source: Wikipedia, 3131219]
The fate of the cemetery
In the interwar period, the cemetery was still in good condition as new. After World War II, the importance of the cemetery in the awareness of the society and the then authorities decreased, because new, more recent cemeteries and dramatic stories of the new war came. The cemetery was naturally destroyed by weather and vegetation factors. It was not until the 1980s that more care was started for World War I cemeteries. The cemetery was renovated, but it did not regain its original appearance. According to R. Frodym, he formerly had a fence made of concrete pillars and a forged steel gate. The ornamentation of this wicket was a stylized Maltese cross inscribed in a circle . Currently, fences and wickets are missing, most of the trees planted along the fence were cut down, which with their roots raised and destroyed the fence and tombstones. [source: Wikipedia, 3131219]
