War Cemetery No. 86 - Ropica Polska - historic cemetery from World War I, designed by Hans Mayr, located in the village of Ropica Polska in the Gorlice commune in the Gorlice poviat in the Lesser Poland voivodship. One of over 400 Western-Galician war cemeteries built by the Cemetery Graves Division of the C. and K. Military Commanders in Krakow. It belongs to the III Cemetery District of Gorlice. Description
The cemetery is located about 400 m south of the national road No. 28 Gorlice - GrybĂłw, on the evidential plot No. 833. The cemetery has a rectangular shape with a large axial projection from the south, with a fenced area of about 302 m. The cemetery is fenced with a full concrete wall with metal wicket and escalators north side. On the axis, by the southern wall, a high beam concrete cross supported at the base by four supports. Irregular row graves arrangement. Tombstones: on cast iron plinths, cast-iron crosses with a round ceramic shield at the intersection of the arms. The cemetery was buried: 61 Austrian soldiers and 8 Russian soldiers in 18 mass graves and 11 individual soldiers killed in 1914 and in May 1915 in the foregrounds of Gorlice Oktawian Duda Cemeteries of the First World War in Western Galicia 1914-1918 - Studies and materials, Center for the Protection of the Historic Landscape, Warsaw 1995, pp. 172-163 .
