Jewish cemetery in Bochnia - was founded in 1872. It has an area of 1 ha. Nearly seven hundred tombstones have survived to our times, most of which are traditional matzevot, but some of the gravestones have the form of sarcophagi. They contain inscriptions in Polish, Hebrew and German. On some matzevot, traces of painting have been preserved. Among the buried there is tzaddik Asher Majer Halberstam. During World War II, the cemetery served as a place of mass executions. At present, there is a monument commemorating the victims of German terror. The cemetery is located about a kilometer from the market towards the east. It occupies the slope of the Krzęczków hill. It is surrounded by a metal mesh fence and has a metal wicket. At the cemetery there is a quarters of soldiers who died during World War I, the Austrian war cemetery No. 313 Bochnia. There are 20 graves in this quarters. [source: Wikipedia, 1450328]
