History and description
The date of the cemetery's creation is unknown. Most probably, it was established at the beginning of the 19th century as a new cemetery still for the needs of the Uniate parish. Until now, the Uniate cemetery functioned at the church. Then, following the liquidation of the Uniate CheĹm diocese in 1875 and the establishment of a new Orthodox parish, confessional membership also changed the cemetery [ D. KawaĹko, Cemeteries ..., pp. 32-33. ] . The cemetery was used by the local Orthodox population mainly until the end of World War II and the deportation of Orthodox Ukrainians, although sporadic burials took place there until the end of the 1960s . In 1951, apart from the necropolis, the cemetery was marked out by the Roman Catholic population. After the war, along with displacements, the Orthodox part of the cemetery was virtually abandoned, which resulted in the combination of both cemeteries . At the beginning of the 1990s, 20 stone and concrete tombstones from before 1945 were preserved in the cemetery, all in the Orthodox quarters. These are pedestals with extensions, columns and horizontal plates decorated with multistage cornices, triangular tympana, festoons and cannons . Inscriptions on these tombstones were made in the following languages: Church Slavonic and Polish . In the Catholic part dominate terrazzo stelle with crosses. There are stone steles with bas-reliefs and metal crosses . The devastated cemetery was tidied up in 2010, when the local Orthodox church was being renovated [ http://www.dziennikwschodni.pl/zamosc/szczebrzeszyn-dolhobyczow-cerkwie-jak-nowe-a-nawet-piekniejsze,n,1000111604.html Szczebrzeszyn DoĹhobyczĂłw: Orthodox churches as new and even more beautiful ] .
