History
The parish cemetery was founded in 1805 on the grounds belonging to the cloister garden of the former monastery. Reformed. In the twentieth century, its area was doubled. For the first time thanks to priest WĹadysĹaw Fischoeder (parish priest in 1919-1924) for the second time thanks to the efforts of priest JĂłzef Bielicki (parish priest in the years 1924-1935). Currently, it is the largest cemetery in Brodnica, where burials are still being carried out. The cemetery is under the parish of Saint. Katarzyna in Brodnica, who is its manager. In the area of the necropolis there are two large family chapels (Ossowskich and PetĂłw) and many architecturally and historically interesting tombstones (in its old part) like the tombstone of Jan Nepomucen Wibicki, Rogal coat of arms of the head of the Brodnica county, who died in 1852, a tombstone from 1881 bearing coats of arms Ryszewscy and Bardzkich or the tombstone from 1889 by Wilhelm Huss. Interesting gravestones from the early twentieth century include, among others a monument from 1903 with a sculpture of an angel on the grave of Feliks Gabryszewski or a tombstone with a grave of the Maciejewski family. Unfortunately, in the 90s of the twentieth century, during the felling of trees commissioned by the parish, many valuable tombstones and sculptures that decorated them were destroyed. Guilty of the above damage has never been punished. [source: Wikipedia, 3908519]
