Cemetery complex in ĹomĹźa. In 1801, apart from the then borders of Lomza, the area designated for the new Roman Catholic cemetery was marked out. In the 1830s, a separate area was attached to the Evangelical cemetery, and in the early 1960s also to the Orthodox cemetery. The boundaries separating the three cemeteries changed and eventually became almost completely blurred. Today, these cemeteries form the so-called a team of denominational and communal cemeteries. The cemetery team is one of the oldest necropolises in Poland. Every year, individual tombstones are renovated. There are over 560 historic tombstones diversified in terms of style, artistic and material on the 19th-century Lomza Cemetery. Tombs and tombstones in the classical, neoclassical, neo-Gothic, eclectic style, some with Neo-Renaissance elements have been preserved. The Lomza necropolis was entered in the register of monuments by a decision of November 26, 1985 issued by the Provincial Conservator of Monuments in ĹomĹźa, under the register number 211. __NOTOC__ [source: Wikipedia, 648530]
